DESCRIPTION:Wednesday\, April 19\, 2023 \nLeader: Annette Pasek starting at 8 am \nEntrance is just beyond 451 Great Pond Rd\, Glastonbury\, on left \n From Rt. 17 – use south entrance to Great Pond Rd and drive in 0.2 mi.  Park on south side away from hydrants. \nExpect common CT birds as well as migratory. Habitat varies\, woodland\, water\, shrub and field.  Count on chickadee\, nuthatch\, jay\, cardinal\, wren.  Many hawk\, duck and sparrow species.  There are always some surprises. 2.5 mile walk. Hilly terrain. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, April 22\, 2023 \nLeader:  Jon Ward – beginning at 8 am \n990 Main St\, South Windsor \nCorner of Newberry Rd and Main St   \nPark in front of stucco house \nThe fourth of four morning walks designed for beginners at Hartford Audubon’s oldest sanctuary. Do not park at Flower Bridge \nThe Simsbury River Walk provides beautiful and varied birding habitat along the Farmington River floodplain and can be great for warblers and other passerines.  Plan to walk approximately 2 miles over 2-3 hours.  The trail is flat but may be wet in places\, depending on recent rainfall.  Bring bug spray and appropriate footwear. SUMMARY:Roaring Brook Nature Center Walk - 4/30/2023
DESCRIPTION:Sunday\, April 30\, 2023 \nLeader: Jay Kaplan starting at 6:30 am to around 9 am. \nSpringtime Bird Walk \nRoaring Brook Nature Center\, 70 Gracey Rd\, Canton  \nMeet in the Nature Center parking lot. \nThe forests and fields of Werner’s Woods\, adjacent to Roaring Brook Nature Center\, are ideal for an early morning walk during spring migration.  Upwards of 50 species may be seen or heard on a good morning.  Look for warblers\, vireos\, orioles\, tanagers and more on this walk led by Nature Center Director and former HAS President\, Jay Kaplan.  Dress for the weather and wear footwear for possible wet ground conditions underfoot.
