Birds, Books, and Bingo – Celebrating 200 Years of Birds of America!

Explore the fascinating world of birds through rare books & bird bingo at this Watkinson Library & Hartford Audubon Society partnered event!
Friday, December 11, 2026
4:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Watkinson Library and Joslin Family 1823 Room, Trinity College Hartford
Join Trinity College Libraries and the Hartford Audubon Society for a celebration marking the 200th anniversary of the beginning of John James Audubon’s monumental Birds of America.
The evening will begin with a special show-and-tell featuring treasures from the Enders Ornithology Collection, offering a close-up look at remarkable materials documenting birds, ornithology, and the natural world.
Then, put your bird knowledge to the test with Bird Bingo, featuring images of birds drawn from our collections and by our students. We’ll finish with a special bonus round: identify the bird by its call!
Whether you’re an experienced birder or simply bird-curious, come explore the collections, test your eyes and ears, and celebrate two centuries of looking closely at the birds around us.
Enjoy light bites and refreshments, with non-alcoholic beverages, beer, and wine available throughout Bird Bingo.
