May 11, 2021 – Annual Meeting and Banquet – updated information – please read
May 11, 2021 @ 5:30 pm - 9:00 pm
Due to COVID concerns, HAS is offering a different kind of Annual Meeting this year on Tuesday, May 11th. We’ll start out with small-group bird walks in Elizabeth Park, followed by optional boxed dinners to take home, and culminating with a virtual Annual Meeting and Evening Program. We hope that many of you will be able to participate in some or all of the activities.
- 4:30- 5:30 pm, Guided Bird Walks in Elizabeth Park. We’ll start at the Pond House and fan out from there in small groups, led by our Board members and experienced trip leaders. The Pond House Café is located at 1555 Asylum Ave, West Hartford, CT. Masks will be required.
Pre-registration is required. Please email Annette Pasek by Friday, May 7th to register for a walk. apasek@cox.net
5:30 – 6:00 pm: Boxed dinners picked up at the Pond House Café at 1555 Asylum Ave, West Hartford. Because we canceled the dinner reservation for our Annual Meeting, we stand to lose our deposit. So, instead of just losing the money, we opted to take the deposit in “take home dinners” by pre-order. They can be picked up at the Pond House between 5:30-6:00 pm, in time for you to get home and settle in for the meeting which commences at 7:00. It’s kind of a way for us to eat together… The order form is below. Their food is amazing — just reading the entrée choices makes us hungry. Orders for the boxed dinners must be RECEIVED by Monday, May 3rd.
7:00 – 8:30 pm: Virtual Annual Meeting & Evening Program over Zoom- 7:00 – 7:30 pm: Annual Meeting: Summary of the year, Annual Awards, and Election of Board of Directors. Please attend – we need a quorum to vote in the Board.
- 7:30 – 8:30 pm: Slide Program “The Most Exciting Birding Areas on Each Continent” by David Pearson, professor of life sciences at Arizona State University and international birder. All of us have been itching to travel, and Dr. Pearson will use his decades of birding experience to share slides and experiences about the best places to visit. He’s a riveting speaker and passionate birder – just the fun evening we need!
