Wildlife Series – 10/17/2023 – Conservation of Saltmarsh Birds in the Face of Sea-Level Rise
Program begins at 7:30 pm
Speaker: Chris Elphick, Ph.D.
Chris will present information on the status of tidal marsh nesting birds in the northeast. Focusing on work conducted by the Saltmarsh Habitat and Avian Research Program, it will summarize what we know about population trends, the factors affecting species persistence, and conservation work that is being done to protect these birds. Chris is a professor of conservation biology in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCONN. His research centers around describing, understanding, and mitigating biodiversity loss. He has been studying coastal marsh birds and their habitats since 2002.
